About Jacob Lehman, PsyD
About Jacob Lehman, PsyD
I’m Jacob Lehman, a licensed psychologist in Oregon and Washington and co-founder of Portland Insight Psychotherapy. I’m also certified under the PSYPACT agreement, which allows me to provide telehealth therapy in over 42 participating states and five US Territories.
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University, where I studied the relationship between athletic identity and resilience. I also completed my internship at Montana State University, working with college students and underrepresented communities.
My practice combines evidence-based insight with lived experience, especially when working with high performers, neurodivergent teens, and couples navigating trauma or change.

Helping individuals and families heal and grow.

Who I Work With
I work with teens, college students, adults, and couples across Oregon, Washington, and other PSYPACT states via telehealth.
Many of my clients are navigating depression, trauma, grief, major life changes, and high-pressure environments like athletics, school, parenting, and the tech world.
I also work with neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD, and I offer parent coaching and consultations for families, teams, and organizations.

My Approach
My approach is grounded in deep respect and real human connection. Therapy with me isn’t stiff or scripted. It’s a place where you can show up exactly as you are: frazzled, thoughtful, frustrated, ambitious, and we’ll figure out together what you need to feel better supported and more in control.
Sessions tend to feel like an ongoing, evolving conversation. Some days that means skill-building, goal-setting, or psychoeducation. Other days, it’s about asking the right questions and creating space to explore the stuff that’s harder to say out loud. I challenge my clients when it’s helpful, and I’m not afraid of anger, conflict, or silence. I’ll help you move forward, but I won’t rush your process.
My Background
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University, where I completed my dissertation on the relationship between athletic identity and resilience. During grad school, I launched a mental health outreach program for athletes that’s now a permanent training site at the University of Portland. I completed my internship at Montana State University’s Counseling Center, where I worked with indigenous communities and underrepresented students.
Today, my practice bridges clinical insight with real-world performance and well-being. I consult with schools and organizations, and I continue to explore how therapeutic work can support people in high-pressure, high-stakes environments.
What You Can Expect
I value transparency, flexibility, and humor. You won’t get a one-size-fits-all experience with me; I adapt based on what you need and what’s going on in your life. Clients often say they feel safe, seen, and challenged in our work together. They learn to trust their instincts, understand their emotional patterns, and show up more fully in their relationships.
I work well with people who are ready to examine stuck patterns, build resilience, and reconnect with who they want to be. Whether we’re diving into grief, learning emotional regulation skills, or repairing old injuries from childhood or sports, I’ll bring clarity, directness, and a lot of heart to the work.
Outside The Therapy Room
Outside of sessions, I’m a dad, a woodworker, a former college track athlete, and a fan of any project that lets me use my hands. I’m often chasing my kids around the backyard, building something in the garage, or off exploring with my family. My work is serious, but I try not to take myself too seriously. That balance, between depth and lightness, is something I try to bring into the therapy space, too.

Insurance
I am a private-pay, out-of-network provider. I’ve partnered with Thrizer to streamline the reimbursement process for clients. With Thrizer, you can choose to pay the full fee and be reimbursed later, or pay only your portion while Thrizer handles the rest directly with your insurance provider. Payments can also be made using HSA/FSA cards.
